As a cross-breed, Klaus maintains all the strengths a werewolf and a vampire may have, but only some of the weaknesses. He doesn't have to shift on a full moon, for example. But they're still affected by vervain and wolfsbane. I wouldn't be able to tell you much, Klaus ... basically created a new species.

What do you know about werewolves? They are not as well known to me.

I know lycanthrope is inherited. You need the werewolf gene to trigger the curse, and the curse is only triggered once a person with that gene has taken a human life, accidentally or otherwise. I know, at least in my world, they're nearly extinct. Vampires hunted them a long time ago; a werewolf bite is lethal to them. [ a pause. ] You're taking this a lot better than I thought.

The curse of _{[It takes him a few seconds to finish the sentence.]} shifting into a wolf?

_{[He remembers the murders in the paper--forever ago now, it seems. Bodies savaged. He'd been looking up at the sky a lot during that time while wistfully dreaming, and he remembers the full moons hanging in the sky like fat sand dollars.

A great deal happened in the week I was away. The vampires were the first, but other supernatural threats joined them eventually. A mention of wolves emerged in research, although I know very little about their mythology.

Shifting into a wolf on the full moon is their curse.

They become deadly. Their choice of prey is vampires, but in their absence, they'll attack humans, too. They don't have any control over it. A lot of them choose to keep to themselves; they chain themselves up so they don't hurt anyone. Others find places where they can roam freely without that worry. Mountains, deserts.

[ elena had to learn as much as she could so she could track down klaus. tracking down klaus meant finding stefan and bringing him home.

From what I've gathered, the mythology differs according to where we're from. What's true for me might not be true for you.

I admit, I am more concerned about the werewolf we do know about than the ones that could be closer to home. He is the only one I am aware of here.

Does this wolfsbane adversely affect him as well?

I'm not sure if the ritual made him immune to that, too. The important thing to keep in mind is, even when something affects him? It doesn't kill him. [ if there is a way to kill the original hybrid at all, elena has yet to discover it.

We would be unlikely to find something that does with Wonderland's powers of resurrection in play.
